A MAN who buried his fiancee alive in a cardboard box was given a 20-year prison sentence overnight for attempted murder by a British judge.
Marcin Kasprzak used a stun gun on 27-year-old Michelina Lewandowska before binding and gagging her with tape and burying her in woodland near their home in Huddersfield, northern England.
"The death you intended would have been long and slow. It is mind-numbingly awful to imagine the sort of death you intended her to die," sentencing judge Recorder Peter Collier said.
Kasprzak was found guilty at an earlier hearing of attempted murder.
The court was told that his fiancee used her engagement ring to cut herself free before eventually managing to flag down a passing driver. She is believed to have spent about an hour underground after Kasprzak placed an 88-pound (40-kilogram) tree branch on top of the cardboard coffin.
Leeds Crown Court had been told that he was bored with their relationship and wanted to make sure he had custody of their three-year-old son.
He claimed that he intended to scare his victim rather than kill her.
