- Video of man destroying mate's car latest YouTube hit
- Prank 2012 already attracted nearly 740,000 views
- Latest in a prank war between the two men
A VIDEO of an Australian man destroying his mate's car with a 13-metre axe as a prank has gone viral.
The authenticity of the video as a ?prank? has been questioned, but its popularity is undeniable after the video, Prank 2012, attracted nearly 740,000 views since being put on YouTube on January 4.
Nick, upset after housemate Cal had a big night out and decided to put an axe in his car, sought revenge by having the monster axe constructed, hooked to a crane and ultimately dropped on Cal?s car - destroying it.
It follows Nick as he chronicles his plans for revenge, speaking with experts who help to construct the axe, rallying mates for the special occasion and setting up multiple cameras to capture the event from different angles and in high definition slow motion.

Cal finds out via a video call made from Nick?s computer just moments before the cable holding the axe head up is released from a crane overhead.
The unlucky Australian shrieks in horror from the other side of the video call as the axe drops and flattens the car while almost sheering it in two.
Over the top Nick yells: ?And that, is called revenge?.
It is the latest in a prank war between the two men, who claim to have spent vast amounts of money on the war.
But a number of posters on YouTube have questioned if the creators of the clip have been entirely honest, asking how a Skype call could be made from what is apparently the middle of nowhere, and challenged the incredible cost of the effort which is passed off in the clip as having been funded by Nick?s savings.
Real revenge or staged, they?re not the first Australian pranksters to go viral.
Alki Stevens, a Melbourne man, last year quit his job and became a professional YouTube prankster after the rampant success of his ?Cone-ing is the new planking? video saw it become one of the most viewed clips on the site last year.
YouTube is also likely to receive many more prank videos with its official blog announcing overnight it would offer $500,000 (US) to the creators of a short video it deems the best story shown on the site as part of a user-generated film festival.
Your Film Festival will accept entries from January 1, 2010, until March 31 this year (meaning the Prank 2012 boys are in with a shot).
Voting for the best 50 clips will begin on June 1.
