Radamel Falcao: Helped himself to a hat-trick in Atletico Madrid's win over Real Sociedad

Sky Bet

Sevilla lost ground in the race for a top-four finish, Atletico Madrid thrashed Real Sociedad while there were also wins for Espanyol and Getafe.

Sevilla missed the chance to close within two points of fourth-placed Levante after being held to a 1-1 draw by Real Betis.

The scores were level at half time after Alvaro Negredo cancelled out Benat's opener for the home side at Estadio Benito Villamarin.

Sevilla's task of claiming all three points was made even harder in the second half when defender Federico Fazio was shown a second yellow card.

However, there were no further goals meaning Sevilla remain eighth in the tables while stay in the lower half of the standings.

Radamel Falcao scored a hat-trick as Atletico Madrid claimed their first Primera Division away win of the season in stunning style at Real Sociedad.

Club record signing Falcao opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the third minute and, after Adrian Lopez had doubled Atletico's lead just after half-time, the Colombia international completed his treble with two more goals late on.

The victory ended Atletico's miserable away run and continued the impressive start made under new coach Diego Simeone, whose first three games in charge have now yielded seven points, with seven goals scored and none conceded.

Miku scored the winner seven minutes from time as Getafe came from behind to end Racing Santander's five-game unbeaten run since Juanjo Gonzalez took charge with a 2-1 success.

The hosts were gifted a 13th-minute lead as Adrian intercepted Rafa Lopez's wayward pass across his own penalty area and squared for Christian Stuani to roll into an empty net.

However, the visitors were behind for only 12 minutes as Jaime Gavilan showed great technique to control and guide home a volley with the outside of his foot from just inside the area.

Goalkeeper Tono Ramirez then rescued Racing early in the second half with saves from Dani Guiza and Miku but the Venezuelan finally found a way through as he showed great composure to slip past Alvaro Gonzalez and lift the ball over Tono for his sixth goal of the season.

Espanyol extended their unbeaten run to five league games and moved up into fifth place in the Primera Liga thanks to a comfortable 3-0 win over Granada.

The hosts started brightly and should have been ahead within 12 minutes but Raul Baena smashed a volley wide from only six yards out.

Baena though made amends as he headed in from Thievy Bifouma's flick-on after 26 minutes and Espanyol doubled their advantage just before half-time as Allan Nyom was harshly penalised for a trip on Vladimir Weiss and Joan Verdu slotted home the penalty.

The visitors improved after the break but were too often wasteful with their final ball and Espanyol wrapped up the points when Rui Fonte fired in after Julio Caesar had parried Ndri Romaric's free-kick.
