Liverpool heavyweight David Price scored a 73-second stoppage win in his British title eliminator against John McDermott.
The Beijing Olympic bronze medallist landed three clattering blows in the first round and three times McDermott went to the canvas.
The third time he was unable to continue and the 6ft 8in Price took his unbeaten record to 12-0 as a result.
"I didn't expect to take John McDermott out like that. Even I don't know how hard I'm hitting. That was a peach of an uppercut I hit him with."
David Price Quotes of the week
His reward is the English heavyweight title and a British title fight against the unbeaten Tyson Fury, who won a hotly disputed points victory over McDermott.
Defeat means the 31-year-old McDermott will not get a fourth chance to fight for the British title.
Price told Sky Sports: "Exactly what I needed but I didn't expect to take John McDermott out like that. Even I don't know how hard I'm hitting. That was a peach of an uppercut I hit him with.
"John McDermott is a tough opponent. No one has done that to him, but I knew before the fight he had never been hit like I was going to hit him and it showed then."
As for Fury, Price added: "Tyson Fury is a fighting man. People say he's going to avoid me. I know Tyson Fury will fight me because he's a fighting man and otherwise he will look like a bit of a coward.
"He's stuck between a rock and a hard place. He's not ready to move on to world level but can he fight me? We'll wait and see but I think he will."
