- Industry legend injured in fall on December 15
- Surgery today to repair broken vertebrae
- Hopes he will leave intensive care next week
MOLLY Meldrum is recovering from yet another operation to repair several fractured vertebrae caused by his fall two weeks ago.
The Herald Sun reported earlier that surgeons at The Alfred completed a three-and-a-half-hour operation on the music industry legend today.
The music stalwart's brother Brian Meldrum has said the operation will be the last Molly will have to undergo.
Mr Meldrum has said the spinal surgery on two or three fractured vertebrae in his lower back meant Molly's future mobility will be "as good as gold".
"He'll be on the ventilator overnight then they'll reassess in the morning," Mr Meldrum said outside the hospital.
"In terms of his overall recovery, it's certainly a step in the right direction. In terms of his mobility down the track, he'll be fine."
He has said Molly is resting comfortably after the surgery.
He has said there is a chance the TV personality could be moved out of intensive care and into a trauma ward next week.
The music industry icon, 65, suffered the injuries after falling three metres down stairs near the spa at his Richmond home while he was putting up Christmas decorations.
He was put under heavy sedation and on a ventilator, and later underwent several operations to relieve swelling to his brain and repair a fractured collarbone and ribs.
