DIAMONDS are forever, so they say, which is just as well given this stone will cost the buyer not less than $15 million when it goes under the hammer next week.
One lucky girl will have a new best friend, and the chance to name the rare pear-shaped rock that was only unearthed in South Africa last year.
The Sun-Drop Diamond is 110.3 carats and will be sold by Cora International at an auction in Geneva, The Daily Mail reports.
The dazzling jewel shines a vivid, stunning yellow and earns the highest colour grading of its type from gem experts.
Sotheby's' jewellery division is sparkling with excitement, and fully expects the rock to command between $12-15 million.
?Some people find it very attractive to own a stone that's been lying untouched in the earth for millions of years," said David Bennett of Sotheby?s.
"It looks the weight. At the same time it's a very bright stone,"
