THE first Angry Birds store has opened in Helsinki as fans eagerly welcomed the chance to nab accessories branded with their favorite animated feathered friends.
Thousands of people were camped outside the shop for up to two days before it opened in the Finnish capital, 20 kms from Espoo, Finland, where the game's maker, Rovio, has its headquarters.
The shop officially opened at 11:11am local time on 11-11-11 in order to take advantage of the good karma believed to be associated with the date and offered up an array of T-shirts, toys, smartphone cases, and games to admirers of the mobile app.
Additional Angry Birds stores are due to open in China, according to the company.
The mobile device application, in which suicidal dive-bombing birds attempt to take out green pigs, was released in 2009.
It has since been downloaded 400 million times, according to estimates, making it one of the best-selling apps.
