Now that's scary! Seven admits doctoring Mel B

A NEW publicity photo showing 'Dancing With The Stars' hostess Mel "Scary Spice" Brown looking long and lean in a clingy column gown aroused the scepticism of Photoshop conspiracy theorists who wondered if she'd had a digital "touch-up".

The pictures of 36-year-old Mel B looking slender in a red gown seemed at odds with shots of the singer, backlit in an orange skirt, taken at a Sydney beach at the weekend.

In the untouched beach shot, Brown looks lean yet muscular through the legs, particularly in the knees to upper thigh.

Yet in the studio shot, for which she posed with host Dan MacPherson, Brown displays a tiny hourglass figure, no doubt the result of her 15kg weight loss with Jenny Craig as well as a rigorous workout routine.

But could the airbrush have been employed as well?

Channel 7 confirmed yesterday some retouching had taken place after the photo shoot.

A Seven spokeswoman said: "Yes, the skintone was touched up and we also did a bit of work on the neckline of the dress to make it a bit more G-rated - they were quite out there before - but nothing whatsoever was done to her thighs. As a matter of fact, she was not very demanding about photo approval."

Brown, who makes her debut in departed hostess Sonia Kruger's shoes on DWTS on April 15, has had a change of image for the show and is expected to be playing the role of elegant understated offsider rather than brash, mouthy Leeds lass when she glides on to the set.

At the weekend she took time out to introduce seven-month-old Madison and daughter Angel, who turns five today, to the joys of their newly adopted home town of Sydney on a harbourside beach.
