FC Utrecht have announced the signing of promising goalkeeper Robbin Ruiter from second division club Volendam.
The 25-year-old had attracted interest from several other Eredivisie sides and had been linked with English clubs Newcastle and Southampton.
Ruiter passed a medical on Tuesday before being unveiled to the press at Utrecht's Galgenwaard Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
Former Utrecht keeper Harald Wapenaar, currently goalkeeping coach at the club, has predicted a bright future for Ruiter and tipped him to play for Holland.
The shot-stopper has appeared 68 times in the past three seasons for Volendam, who currently lie 12th in the Juliper League standings.
