Missing Aussie found in Sri Lanka

A MISSING Australian man whose family feared he had been kidnapped in Sri Lanka has been found.

A spokeswoman for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade confirmed Premakumar Gunaratnam, 42, from NSW had been located safely.

"It would be inappropriate to discuss further details of the matter at this time," she told AAP today.

He was reported missing in the region of Kiribathigodaj on April 7.

Mr Gunaratnam is a political activist with the People's Struggle Movement in Sri Lanka.

Yesterday his worried wife, Champa Somaratna, said she had received reports from neighbours that he had been abducted.

She feared for his life and claimed secret police had kidnapped him because of his political activities.
