IS your emotional baggage getting too heavy to carry on your own?
Fear not emos, a musical therapy website has created a community of sympathetic listeners willing to shoulder your burden and hand pick you a song to lift your spirits.
Web developer Robyn Overstreet designed Emotional Bag Check in her spare time as a place visitors can either choose to ?check it? ? and offload their emotional baggage ? or ?carry it? by recommending a song.
After submitting their problem which appears anonymously on the site, users will receive a song recommendation in their email, which only they can see.
?I'm a big Lucinda Williams fan, so I often go with one of her songs,? Ms Overstreet told news.com.au.
?They tend to be sad, but I actually like sad songs when I'm feeling down.?
The site?s founder said she had received a ?really positive reaction? so far.
?A few people have called the process of searching for and sending songs ?addictive?,? she said.
Users cannot see which songs have been recommended to other users and Ms Overstreet says she values the privacy the site provides.
?It's not about advertising your message to all of your friends,? Ms Overstreet said.
But the site may be challenging for the emotionally vulnerable - some of the submissions are quite serious and depressing. They even come with a warning: ?We're about to show you someone's emotional baggage. Just want to make sure you're up for it.?
