Kevin Nicholson's 30-yard drive in the 71st minute rescued a point for Torquay in their 2-2 draw with Cheltenham.

It was the defender's first Gulls goal of the season but well worth the wait. Cheltenham had been given a flying start when Joshua Low swept between Nicholson and keeper Bobby Olejnik to cleverly clip the ball over the United number one and in on four minutes.

Two minutes later United levelled through on-loan Swindon striker Billy Bodin, whose incisive run from the right wing finished with a thumping left-foot shot from 20 yards that beat diving Town keeper Jack Butland, on loan from Birmingham City.

Bristol-born Butland, 18, made a brilliant save to keep out Bodin's rising drive in the 14th minute but it was Town who took the lead in first half stoppage time.

Jeff Goulding teed up winger Kaid Mohamed, who converted from eight yards. Butland made the save of the match in the 58th minute when he went full stretch to his right to palm away Eunan O'Kane's angled strike as the Irish midfielder broke through the Robins defensive line.

However, there was little the highly-rated young keeper could do to keep out Nicholson's thunderbolt.
