- Star Wars fan makes mask out of sneakers
- Making a different mask every day for a year
- The mask is now available on eBay
IT'S the sneaker attack the Empire never expected.
A Star Wars fan has built a wearable Stormtrooper helmet out of an unusual material ? Adidas sneakers.
The anonymous Los Angeles graffiti artist known as ?Freehand Profit? built the mask for the Star Wars Remix project - a website that ?celebrates the creativity of Star Wars fans who can literally remix the world around them into the Star Wars universe we all know and love.?
So far, the website has displayed artworks ranging from a painting of C3PO made entirely of glitter to a twist tie Tie-Fighter and a Jabba the Hutt puppet made out of minced meat.
Freehand has been making a different mask every day for a year, an endeavour he calls the MASK365 project.
It?s not the first one he has made out of sneakers, but Freehand says the Stormtrooper helmet was the first piece that required more than one pair of shoes to create.
?It gave me hell,? Freehand wrote on his website. ?I pushed through and couldn?t be happier with the result.?
The Stormtrooper mask is available for auction on eBay.
The helmet has racked up 10 bids since it went on sale on Tuesday, and so far its price has reached US$182 ($177.60).
