Mowbray: Is pleased to have picked up a point at home

Sky Bet

Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray has expressed his satisfaction with his side's goalless draw with Leicester City in the Championship on Wednesday evening.

Boro headed into the clash at the Riverside Stadium with the knowledge that victory in front of their own supporters combined with a draw or a loss for leaders Southampton at Cardiff City will send them to the top of the table.

While the Saints lost 2-1 at the Cardiff City Stadium, Middlesbrough failed to register a win but boss Mowbray had no complaints with his team's result.

"Ultimately it is a satisfactory point in the end," he said. "They (Leicester) will claim a lot of points away over the course of the season.

"They are unbeaten away and, after struggling to find a formation in the early season, seem to have found a way of playing that suits them well.

"They have some talented and technically very good players and, even though we built up a head of steam towards the end, we are, ultimately, pleased with the result.

"I feel as though they will be a strong side this season. Obviously we would have preferred to win but it's not a bad result."

Mowbray's Middlesbrough are now level on 19 points with Southampton and Derby Country.

Eriksson happy

As for Leicester, the draw leaves them in 11th position with 13 points, and their manager is happy with their performance against Boro.

"It was a fair result," enthused Sven Goran-Eriksson. "Last week against Cardiff we should have won but I can't say that after this game (it finished in a 0-0 draw).

"There were no big chances for either. In the last 10 minutes, we were tired so I am happy with the result."

He added: "We cannot be that disappointed with the results because in the second and third games, we lost twice at home.

"We are suffering from that so to start picking up some of those lost points is very pleasing; we have to take them somewhere. We are getting better and better."
