THERE is no such thing as a "perfect relationship", Dannii Minogue's partner admits.
But rugby star turned model Kris Smith is adamant he and Minogue are happy together.
Smith arrived in Perth yesterday to spend several days shooting Myer's spring-summer campaign with Jennifer Hawkins as rumours continued to swirl that his romance with Minogue had hit a rough patch.
"This is something that has been just totally blown way out of proportion," he said. "Everything is fine. We are good. We are happy."
A relaxed Smith acknowledged no relationship was without challenges.
"You show me a perfect relationship and I will show you a liar," he said.
"Everything has its ups and downs and things do get magnified (when you are in the public eye)."
Smith said he and Minogue were focusing on the future and revelling in the joy that their son, Ethan, brought them.
"He has got his first birthday coming up and we have got absolutely no idea what to do, yet," Smith said.
Smith said he and Minogue were busy renovating their Melbourne home.
"We are having a lot of work done on the back, building a nice barbecue area for me to slave away at and we are making it a bit more child-friendly for Ethan when he starts walking," he said. "We are enjoying being back."
Their relationship was brought into question over the weekend when tweets posted by the pair sparked speculation they were in crisis.
Sources say Minogue's frantic work schedule in London and Australia put stress on the relationship and led to a frank airing of anxieties between the two about a fortnight ago.
Insiders say they have put the blow-up behind them and are committed to each other and their family.
Minogue arrived back in Melbourne with Ethan a week ahead of Smith, who stayed in England for a modelling assignment.
He touched down in Melbourne on Friday and later headed to a Prahran club to join farewell drinks for radio heavyweights Hamish Blake and Andy Lee, who are moving to New York.
The devoted dad and budding TV presenter took Ethan to a Melbourne Storm game on Saturday with former Collingwood player Paul Licuria.
Smith then took his son to support Minogue as she taped Australia's Got Talent at Docklands.
In a bid to quell speculation, the couple released a statement that read in part: "We are committed to our relationship and Ethan as always."
