Thompson: Former Dundee United and Rangers striker aims to play in the SPL next season

Sky Bet

Steven Thompson is hoping to secure a contract with a club back in the Scottish Premier League following his departure from Burnley.

The experienced striker has not been offered a new deal by the Clarets after spending the past three seasons at Turf Moor following his arrival from Cardiff City.

Though the majority of his appearances came as a substitute, the 32-year-old has happy memories of his time at Burnley.

The former Dundee United and Rangers forward is now looking to finalise a deal to play his football in the SPL next season.

"Next year I am going to go and play back in Scotland, but I have had a great three years here," Thompson told the club's official website.

"The first year was incredible and it was amazing to experience the Premier League last year.

"I have nothing but good things to say about the club and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here."
