Peer: First-round exit
Fifth seed Shahar peer was sent crashing out of the Brussels Open in the first round after shock 6-1 5-7 6-3 defeat to Casey Dellacqua.
The world number 20 made a nightmare start against her Australian opponent and despite recovering in the second set, she was once again bettered in the decider.
Dellacqua, who is ranked 409 places below the Israeli, faced a total of 13 break points but saved 11 of them in the process of taking the victory.
American world number 85 Varvara Lepchenko took a 6-4 7-6 victory over local player An-Sophie Mestach, but Coco Vandeweghe lost 6-3 7-6 to Sweden's Sofia Arvidsson.
The final first round match of the day saw Klara Zakopalova of the Czech Republic claim a gruelling 7-5 3-6 6-4 win over Russia's Ksenia Pervak.
