CLEO Kerameas blames "a total brain snap" for her undoing in last night's MasterChef elimination challenge.
The 45-year-old came undone during the dessert challenge where contestants were asked to showcase four pastry skills - specifically preparing each element one at a time.
Instead, Kerameas started one component before finishing the previous one, costing her her place in the MasterChef kitchen.
Kerameas says she felt confident going into the challenge but ?when they were giving us the instructions, I misinterpreted what they wanted because I was overconfident with what I had to do.?
?I obviously did the wrong thing and then the judges couldn?t taste my dish because I didn?t follow the instructions properly?? Kerameas said, ? I didn?t even know that I had made the mistake. I was so perplexed."
"I was kicking myself because I know based on my cooking, I could have had a long way to go in the competition. I disappointed myself, I let myself down."
The Sydneysider says she was surprised her professional experience didn't give her an edge in the pastry challenge.
"The disappointment is with myself, ?I think maybe the pressure and the anxiety of the competition really got to me that day and I thought I heard it one way, whereas it was meant in another way.?
Adding salt to the elimination wound, it was the first time she had found herself facing the chop.
?The disappointment that I left the competition on a misunderstanding rather than my cooking ability is really difficult to accept.?
But, the executive assistant still sees her time in the MasterChef kitchen as a positive: ?I look at it as an opportunity, I was lucky enough to even participate even though my time was short."
Kerameas? food adventure isn?t over yet, with the hunt on to find investors to open her dream caf provedore.
