Brad Haddin: Returns home from West Indies
Brad Haddin is set to leave Australia's tour of the West Indies early for personal reasons.
Cricket Australia national selector John Inverarity confirmed the Test gloveman would leave the Caribbean less than a week after Australia arrived for the six-week tour.
Haddin was set to sit out the initial five-match one-day international series, which begins in St Vincent on Friday, with Matthew Wade having replaced in the 50-over format.
The 34-year-old, though, was expected to keep his place for the three-Test series, which begins in Barbados on April 7, but the uncapped Wade could now get his chance - with Peter Nevill called up as cover.
Full support
Inverarity said: "Brad Haddin is returning to Australia for personal reasons and has the full support of CA, the NSP and his team-mates in so doing.
"We hope that Brad will be able to re-join the squad in the West Indies in the not too distant future.
"The NSP has selected Peter Nevill as Brad's replacement and Peter will head to the West Indies as soon as possible.
"Peter has just completed an outstanding season with New South Wales, both with the gloves and the bat."
Haddin had been under pressure to keep his Test place before the tour after a poor run of form during the Australian summer.
Australia's new selection panel had stuck by Haddin with Rod Marsh saying the 43-Test veteran was likely to keep his place in the five-day team.
