AN Australian aid worker has been injured in an apparent suicide attack in Afghanistan.
Foreign Minister Bob Carr says the man is in a serious but stable condition following the attack in Oruzgan province yesterday.
"The civilian is an AusAID adviser deployed through the Australian Civilian Corps," Senator Carr said in a statement.
"He was working in Oruzgan with local communities on development activities."
The injured man is receiving medical treatment in Kandahar.
His family has been advised and are receiving support from the Australian government.
No other Australians were injured in the attack.
