Matt Ritchie: Swindon winger has 'fantastic' potential according to Bournemouth boss Lee Bradbury

Sky Bet

Bournemouth boss Lee Bradbury is waiting to see whether the club will make an increased offer to sign Swindon Town winger Matt Ritchie.

The Cherries revealed on Boxing Day that a 500,000 bid for the 22-year-old had been turned down after the club had previously failed with a move in November.

Bradbury believes Ritchie may be keen to step up to League One level and has defended the size of the offer for the former Portsmouth youngster.

"I think it is a very good bid for Matt Ritchie," said Bradbury after the Boxing Day draw at Brentford. "I know he probably wants to play at a higher level and it is a chance for him.

Potential

"If the club could do a deal then I am sure Matt would like to move up a league. I will have to have talks with the chairman in the next few days to see what we are going to do.

"It is a lot of money but I think he is probably the best winger in League Two. He scores goals, creates goals and is 22. The potential is fantastic.

"I know him as a player and have watched him quite a bit. I feel he is a threat and has a great left foot.

"He is at the right age and would be a fantastic investment for the club if the bid were to be successful."
