Jay Bothroyd: Relishing the busy festive period as QPR look to return to winning ways

Sky Bet

Jay Bothroyd has admitted Queens Park Rangers are a work in progress but feels confident they will come through a challenging festive schedule as a stronger team.

QPR have slipped perilously close to the relegation zone following a run of four points from eight games leading up to Christmas, and will be desperate to return to winning ways against Swansea on Tuesday.

Bothroyd knows that there are no easy games in the Premier League but he insists that is part of the excitement of playing at the highest level.

And he believes Neil Warnock's men will soon turn the corner and start climbing to a position of more stability.

"Every game is a pressure game in this league. That's why it's the best league in the world," the striker told the club's official website.

"We're still working on a lot of things and getting to know each other. We're very much a work in progress.

"We are creating chances and I'm sure we will take them. We're a team and we want to move forward together."

Big test

QPR follow up their game against Swansea with a trip to Arsenal on New Year's Eve, before facing Norwich a couple of days later.

"The games are coming so thick and fast," said Bothroyd.

"Swansea is a tough place to go to, they pass the ball around really well and Brendan Rodgers has got them playing some really good football.

"Going to Arsenal is another big test at the Emirates, but this is what the Premier League is all about.

"I genuinely like the busy period at this time of year.

"A lot of us are used to it coming up from the Championship, where there always seems to be two games a week.

"The adrenaline is still pumping when you go into the next game. That's a great feeling to have heading into the next game."
