Ups and downs
"It's a decision we have to make and West Brom have to make and we are in continuous dialogue with them.
"He's a young man who has done very well for us, although he's had his ups and downs in form as you will do when you're 19 or 20 years of age."
Hughton will also decide on whether to send Jack Butland out on loan again after the highly-rated goalkeeper shone during a stint at Cheltenham Town.
He added: "Whether to loan him out again will be one of the bigger decisions we have to make.
"He's a very good young goalkeeper who went to Cheltenham and played very well.
"It will be what's best for the lad and his development. If that decision is to lend him out again, it will be for him to get the experience and continue making progress."
