THIS is what happens when two technology giants face off in court - Australians miss out.
Samsung has agreed to suspend the sale of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia until the outcome of their ongoing legal battle with Apple is resolved.
In April Apple filed a lawsuit against Samsung claiming the product design and touch display user interface of the Galaxy tablet "slavishly copy" the Apple iPad and iPhone.
The technology giant is seeking unspecified damages and an order preventing Samsung from infringing on its patents and trademarks.
A Samsung spokesman said in April the company's products are the result of its own research and development and that they plan to fight the claims.
In any case, Australians will see no more Galaxy Tabs until the completion of the trial, and who knows how long that will take.
The suspension of the Galaxy Tab is the result of an agreement reached between Samsung and Apple, announced this morning.
The Galaxy Tab is the second tablet to disappear off the Australian market, the result of fierce competition between technology competitors.
Last month HP pulled its TouchPad tablet from Australian shelves after only four days on the market following poor sales figures.
The company announced it would be manufacturing a second round of tablets following a hugely successful fire sale dropping the price nearly $300, before discontinuing the tablet forever.
Australians, however, will not be seeing the next round of TouchPads.
The decision was part of a complete restructuring of the business, pulling out of the hardware market altogether to focus on software development instead.
