Proof that a little money goes a long way in the camera market is Pentax's upcoming X-5 super-zoom model with a 26x optical zoom. The lens on this inexpensive 16-megapixel camera will reach from 22mm to 580mm and it also offers a hinged 3-inch screen.

- SOUND INVESTMENT

TEAC, $399

TEAC's newest sound machine is designed to make more of the Apple iPhone's audio. The 7.3kg, 180-watt speaker comes with a remote control, dial for customised bass and video outputs so users can plug it into a TV and watch iTunes downloads on the big screen.

- HARD CASE

Lenovo, $1999

The thinnest Ultrabook to hit the market has also been made tough. Lenovo used carbon fibre to create the ThinkPad X1 Carbon's exterior, adding strength to its 1.8cm thin form. The business laptop also features a 14-inch screen and new Intel Core i7 chip.

- MOBILE ENTERTAINMENT

Belkin, $199.95

belkin.com.au

Who said TV was sedentary? Belkin's @TV connects to digital set-top boxes or DVD players to broadcast television shows to Apple or Google smartphones and tablets using its @TV app. Users can stream shows over wi-fi or 3G connections, making viewing truly mobile.
