POLICE in Los Angeles have launched an investigation into allegations Miley Cyrus and her Aussie fiance Liam Hemsworth were caught up in an altercation at a Hollywood nightclub over the weekend.
The celebrity couple were said to have been partying at Beacher's Madhouse at the Roosevelt Hotel in the early hours of Sunday morning when an argument allegedly broke out between the couple and an unnamed man.
The partygoer subsequently filed a police report alleging the dispute with the singer-actress turned physical, and officer Rosario Herrera of the Los Angeles Police Department has confirmed the department is looking into the claim.
"Miley, her boyfriend and the victim were talking and an argument ensued," she tells the New York Daily News.
"Miley pushed the victim and struck the victim in the face. There were no visible injuries and no arrests made. The victim came to the station (to file the report).
"It's an ongoing investigation."
A representative for Cyrus has spoken out to insist the star did nothing wrong.
"This claim is completely false and erroneous," she told TMZ.com.
