Wigan take on QPR at the DW Stadium on Saturday lunchtime looking to make it third time lucky against Premier League newcomers.

For Roberto Martinez's side have yet to win in the top flight this term after opening draws against newly promoted Norwich and then Swansea.

But the Latics will find it tough against a QPR side who will be oozing confidence after bouncing back to win 1-0 at Everton in the league last time.

That was the perfect response after Neil Warnock's side had slumped to a 4-0 opening day home drubbing by Bolton.

Despite a 2-0 reverse to Rochdale in the Carling Cup in midweek, the Loftus Road outfit will also be buoyed by the recent change in ownership and the prospect of new recruits arriving in the coming days.

Team news

Wigan will be without defensive duo Steve Gohouri and Antolin Alcaraz for the clash.

Gohouri is still missing with a calf problem and will not be back for at least two weeks while Alcaraz, who was replaced during the goalless draw at Swansea, suffered a muscle tear in his leg and could be absent for around two months.

Hugo Rodallega has yet to start a league game after featuring for Colombia in the Copa America but he has appeared from the bench in the previous two matches and is in contention to start this weekend.

Victor Moses is rated at 50/50 after also suffering a knock at Swansea and although his injury is not as bad as first feared, he has not trained with the first team for the majority of the week.

QPR will be without the injured Kieron Dyer and Jamie Mackie, who continues to recover from a broken leg, while Bradley Orr, who was instrumental in the club's win at Everton, limped off with a groin injury in the defeat against Rochdale and could be a doubt.

But strike duo Jay Bothroyd and DJ Campbell are both back in contention to start after missing the Everton victory through illness.

Possible starting XIs

QPR: Kenny, Connolly, Hall, Orr, Gabbidon, Derry, Faurlin, Buzsaky, Taarabt, Smith, Bothroyd.
