IN A week in which it appeared he sealed his deal for a new six-star casino at Barangaroo, James Packer did his best James Bond impression yesterday at Bondi Beach.
Channelling Daniel Craig in the famous Casino Royale scene, the gambling tycoon showed off the impressive results of his 40kg weight loss by emerging from the surf after a swim, water dripping from his newly chiselled six-pack.
The 45-year-old's dramatic physical transformation is clearly as on-track as his casino plans, having promised friends he would parade his buff frame down the beach once he reached his goal of 90kg.
The photograph illustrates the dramatic transformation Packer has undergone since having keyhole gastric bypass surgery at a private Los Angeles clinic last November, a final resort for the former media mogul who has always struggled with his weight, once tipping the scales at 130kg.
�Packer is seeking expressions of interest from architects, keen to make his $1 billion six-star proposition one of "the best buildings in the world" and something to make Sydneysiders "proud". His plan has received unified support from both the state's coalition government and the Labor opposition, as well as the Shooters and Fishers party and Christian Democrat Fred Nile.
Packer became a father for the third time last month, when wife Erica gave birth to daughter Emmanuelle on September 22.
