A MOBILE phone app can assist with calorie counting, fitness or shopping and now there's one that gives people a second chance at love.

The 'Regarded' iPhone app and corresponding website were launched on December 22 and connect social reality with virtual reality.

Users are able to log in and post where they were and who they saw when they spotted a person who took their fancy.

From there, users are able to interact with their admirers and hope that romance follows.

Sydney primary school teacher Gavin McCormack is the aptitude behind the app and is bringing it to Brisbane from January 22.

Mr McCormack has been driving up the east coast of Australia in a vintage Datson 260Z car as he leads a grassroots marketing campaign.

The team hope to head to Kerbside bar and Bowery bar in Fortitude Valley and the Lark bar in Paddington to promote the app.

The app was inspired by Mr McCormack's experiences in the teaching industry.

"I work with all women and they were complaining about the man drought in Sydney, just as there is Melbourne and Brisbane...they were complaining that there are not enough men but at the same time they were also complaining that they've seen people but they didn't go over and say something."

"I thought 'there's got to be a better way to find a guy'."

The positive response to 'Regarded' has equally come from women and men.

"It's a second chance to say 'oh I wish I could get his name' and put yourself out there without the chance of being rejected or hurt."

The app has attracted 960 users in Sydney alone and Mr McCormack expects that time-poor singles in Brisbane city will also respond well to the app.
