THREE people, including a nine-year-old boy, are dead after a hostage standoff at a quiet Florida caravan park, officials say.
The Broward Sheriff's Office reports that 41-year-old William De Jesus fatally shot 76-year-old Ovila Plante outside the older man's recreational vehicle (RV) at Highland Woods Recreational Vehichle Park in Deerfield Beach.
De Jesus then barricaded himself inside the RV with his family and the dead man's girlfriend, who eventually escaped.
After a seven-hour standoff, a SWAT team entered the recreational RV on Friday. They found De Jesus and his nine-year-old son dead. De Jesus' wife and seven-year-old son were suffering from stab wounds.
Authorities didn't immediately have a motive for the attack. The De Jesus family was from central Florida. Plante and his girlfriend were on vacation from Quebec, Canada.
