- New single surfaces featuring Paris Hilton
- Described as "just awful" and "embarrassing"
- Hilton's rep denies the song will feature on her album
WAS someone doing a little drunk posting last night? A copy of what was billed as Paris Hilton's new single surfaced online today, only to be removed just two hours later.
The song called Drunk Text features Hilton speaking in a monotone over a beat from electro duo Manufactured Superstars and was instantly panned by critics and fans alike.
Lines like "If you take the word 'sex' and mix it with 'texting,' it's called 'sexting,? and ?I went out to the club the other night to uh, you know, dance with my b?ches," not to mention "no one is safe from the Twittersphere anymore" have led critics to slam the song as ?embarrassing? and ?immature?.
Gawker described the single as "just awful" while Jezabel said it showed how Hilton was "not dealing with ageing that well?.
?She seems to prefer that people think she's a vapid idiot than ?old?," the site said.
However, in what may be a quick scramble to save face, a rep for the 31-year-old released the following statement: "We can confirm that the video leaked today is not part of Paris Hilton?s new album. This video was recorded over a year ago.
"The first single will be out in a few months, we will let everyone know when it?s due for release."
Manufactured Superstars said the heiress was just doing them a favour by starring in the video and are currently removing the illegal copies from the web.
"This is an unfinished rough cut, which was not ready for release," the electro duo said.
"We've heard some songs from her new record which are incredible and are really going to surprise people."
Hilton revealed last month that she was working on a new album with Snoop Dogg, LMFAO and Flo Rida which was being produced by her boyfriend Afrojack.
