ONE of Twitter's co-founders has warned the site's estimated 500 million users that spending too much time on it is "unhealthy".
Speaking before a Montreal audience on Wednesday, Biz Stone, said that spending 12 hours a day on Twitter was "not a good idea".
"I like the kind of engagement where you go to the website and you leave because you've found what you are looking for or you found something very interesting and you learned something," he said, according a report in The Guardian newspaper.
"I think that's a much healthier engagement," he added. "Obviously, we want you to come frequently."
Stone co-founded the wildly successful microblogging site in 2006 along with Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams and Noah Glass.
Reports emerged this week thatthe company had surpassed 500 million users, though Twitterhas not officially confirmed it.
