VENEZUELAN President Hugo Chavez is returning to Cuba to undergo a series of medical tests to evaluate his cancer treatment.
Mr Chavez says he will be undergoing what he described as "rigorous examinations".
The President finished his fourth and final round of chemotherapy in Cuba last month.
Mr Chavez underwent surgery in Cuba in June to remove a tumour from his pelvic region.
He has not revealed what type of cancer he is battling, but he has said that tests have shown no signs of a recurrence.
Mr Chavez had been seeing a team of doctors in Venezuela.
Shortly before boarding a plane destined for Cuba today, Mr Chavez said he expects to return to Venezuela within a few days with "good news".
