An aspiring South Florida photographer took a picture several months ago of a man whose face was changed forever after a cannibalistic attack. Nicholas Carlesi was waiting outside Jungle Island to pick up his girlfriend from prom on April 14, when Ronald Poppo caught his attention. "This homeless man happens to walk by, behind my car, and he had a huge smile on his face," said Carlesi. The 21-year-old aspiring photographer got out of his car and asked Poppo for his picture. "I walked up to him, and I was like, 'Hey, can I have a picture of you?' and he said, 'Sure, no problem,' and then he did a pose, not realizing that I was just trying to get a picture of his face," said Carlesi. Carlesi possibly captured the last photo of Poppo's undamaged face. "It may be the last picture he ever smiled," he said.
