Black Caviar: 20 straight wins

Sky Bet

Sprint star Black Caviar notched up her 20th career victory in Australia on Saturday and connections are now eyeing Royal Ascot.

The unbeaten mare produced another sparkling display in the Sportingbet Classic at Morphettville.

The victory took Peter Moody's six-year-old past the Australian win streak record she equalled in February and also eclipsed the feat of American star mare Zenyatta.

The Goodwood Stakes at the same track in a fortnight's time is her most likely next start, before she makes the journey to Britain to contest the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot in June.

Jockey Luke Nolen is already looking forward to seeing Black Caviar compete in Britain.

He told Sky Racing Australia: "Ascot is going to play right to her strengths. She's a mare who appreciates a straight track.

"We've got the best sprinters in the world here in Australia and she is the queen of them, so Ascot holds no fears.

"We haven't been on a plane with her before and it's a long way from home, but she's got a great constitution and a lovely nature to go with it, so I'm sure she'll cope with it fine."

Stronger

Black Caviar broke smartly in the six-furlong Group One to take the early lead.

The jockey pulled the incredible mare back into third before reaching the home turn, but it was clear she was travelling much stronger than her opponents.

While the rest got to work at the top of the straight, Nolen sat motionless and Black Caviar pulled clear without breaking sweat for another resounding success.

Trainer Moody said: "I'm glad to get that run behind us. She had a nice gallop, happy days.

"She's in great shape and it's fabulous to see the people here enjoy today.

"I was pretty happy with where she was (in the race). Luke has got great faith in her ability and so do I. I don't think we ever had too much concern.

"It's incredible how she copes with it all. Most sprinters are wound up, excitable types, whereas she's so laid back and takes it all in her stride.

"She's a remarkable horse."
