  • Karise Eden the one to beat in iTunes and odds
  • The Voice ratings down on season peak
  • Madden performedduet with father-in-law Lionel Richie

KARISE Eden has emerged the "Black Caviar" of The Voice - a short-priced standout and an undisputed odds-on favourite from the beginning.

The shy 19-year-old?s touching story struck a chord early with voters and fans of the show and now with the punters as well.

Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said Eden was the clear choice for punters, despite De Bono emerging as a threat.

?We have taken a string of big bets this week with one punter having $4500 on her plus two other bets of $2000 and plenty more between $1000 and $1500,? Sullivan said.

?90 per cent of the money this week has been for Karise Eden with the rest just sprinkled between the other three contestants.

?Punters have anointed her the winner and simply don?t want to bet on anyone else to win.?

While Karise Eden was the punter's favourite from the start, Sarah De Bono has made up some serious ground and is hot on her heels for the title.

On Thursday, De Bono was the outsider at $7.00, but has emerged a strong chance over the past few days to make up two spots for second favourite.

Rachael Leahcar's odds have slipped dramatically from $6.50 on Thursday afternoon to $26.00 by close of trade yesterday.

Darren Percival went from $4.25 to $8.00 over the same period.

The Sportingbet odds at close of trade:

Karise Eden - $1.55
Sarah - $2.75
Darren - $8.00
Rachael - $26.00

The Voice ratings not as sky high as they should be

CHANNEL Nine said they were hoping for tonight?s The Voice finale to smash through the three million viewer mark, but last night's penultimate episode pulled in just 2.24 million.

Nine's national director of sales and marketing Peter Wiltshire said tonight's grand finale of the singing contest "has the potential to pull more than 3.5 million viewers on average".

But for a show which has averaged two million viewers over the course of the season, the network may have been hoping for a bigger lift last night.

The result is well down on The Voice?s best rating episode - a massive 2.704 million viewers during the fourth Blind Audition episode, on April 22.

A lead in from The Block?s 1.88 million would have helped significantly, with most viewers sticking with Nine for the night for a 33 per cent share.

Not even the grand final of Dancing With The Stars and return of Kerri-Anne Kennerley could hamper The Voice?s mammoth ratings. The celebrity-based reality show which was once the bastion of the network pulled in just 1.28 million.

MasterChef trailed behind with 973,000.

Joel and Lionel no match for Karise last night

WHILE Joel Madden and his father-in-law Lionel Richie's first performance made international headlines, it was Karise Eden's thumping performances which brought the house down.

Madden said singing with Richie was a "personal dream? and their rendition of his classic hit Easy hit the right note with viewers.

What did you think of the duet?

But it was Eden which blew the roof off Fox Studios and the minds of the four superstar coaches.

The NSW teen proved why she is the singer to beat with her original ballad I Was Your Girl about her relationship with her mother, before delivering a show-stopping Ruby Turner song, Stay With Me, dressed in a dazzling gold gown.

Sarah DeBono opened the show with If I Didn't Love You by Australia's power ballad queen Tina Arena, followed by an original called Beautiful about being bullied at school.

Rachel Leahcar claimed the "Kleenex moment" with a sweet but strained performance of Charlie Chaplin's Smile, before an original tribute to her mentor and coach, Delta Goodrem called Shooting Star.

Darren Percival's original, Damage Down, was a composition that he wrote after turning 40, which he performed alongside yet another Stevie Wonder hit, For Once In My Life.

EDEN'S iTunes dominance was clear even before the show ended, but the teen now holds four out of the top ten songs on iTunes.

The 19-year-old holds the number one, two, four and nine position on the charts, while Sarah De Bono holds the third, 18th and 20th most purchased.

Darren Percival has songs sitting at number five, six and 14 on the charts, while Rachael Leahcar holds position seven and eight in the top 20.

It only took 22 minutes for Eden's original I Was A Girl to jump from number seven to number one on the charts as support for the young performer's emotional rendition poured in.

Just one song in the top ten was from an artist who wasn?t performing on The Voice ? Flo Rida?s Whistle.

Each song bought online adds two votes to the contestant's grand final tally.

SARAH De Bono's international Twitter fan force kicked into gear last night, with her coach Joel Madden and his high-profile wife Nicole Richie attracting the attention of their almost four million followers and galaxy of Hollywood friends.

De Bono, a social media favourite, has four times as many Twitter followers and twice as many Facebook fans as the other contestants.

However, Darren Percival generated the most positive feedback on Twitter and his coach's hashtag, #TeamKeith, was used more than twice as often as either #TeamSeal (Eden) or #TeamJoel (DeBono).

Also making waves on Twitter were questions about why Joel Madden has no underarm hair.

IAN 'Dicko' Dickson, a former Idol judge and marketing executive with Sony BMG says Sarah De Bono is a music label?s dream.

Dickson said the 19-year-old had all the right ingredients to be a pop star and would be the most successful commercially of all the finalists.

"If I was spending my own money, I'd spend it on Sarah De Bono," Dickson said.

But he says he also has a soft spot for Percival.

"He is such a good-natured man and I think it's time that we had a new crooner."

So what's next for the winner?
